Welcome from Dr. Gabriel Katz

Manhattan, NY Psychiatrist & Psychotherapist

Welcome to my psychopharmacology and psychotherapy practice. I am a board-certified psychiatrist and therapist committed to helping patients by treating those struggling with psychiatric illness, psychological distress, anxiety or stress, working to improve the quality of their lives through compassionate, comprehensive treatment.

Diagnosis / Treatment

I am versed in all aspects of psychopharmacology and psychotherapy. I work with patients on a variety of issues and create a personalized treatment plan for each patient.

01. ADHD specialist

ADHD is a disorder that makes it difficult for a person to pay attention and control impulsive behaviors. He or she may also be restless and almost constantly active. ADHD is not just a childhood disorder. Although the symptoms of ADHD begin in childhood, ADHD can continue through adolescence and adulthood.

Patients with ADHD generally require medication and are therefore put under the care of a psychiatrist for medication management.

02. Eating disorders

Eating disorders are a range of psychological conditions that cause unhealthy eating habits to develop. They might start with an obsession with food, body weight, or body shape. Although the term eating is in the name, eating disorders are about more than food. They are complex mental health conditions that often require the intervention of medical and psychological experts to alter their course.

Eating disorders are first treated by psychotherapy. Patients are generally referred to a psychiatrist as they often present with anxiety, depression, and/or poor self-image. Psychological interventions are very helpful as they can help the underlying conditions and assist the patient in recovery

03. ANxiety

Experiencing anxiety is a normal part of life. However, people with anxiety disorders frequently have intense, excessive and persistent worry and fear about everyday situations.  These feelings of anxiety and panic can interfere with daily activities, are difficult to control and can last for prolonged periods.

Treatment of anxiety is multi-faceted and can include talk therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and/or medication.

04. depression

Depression is a mood disorder that causes a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest in daily activities. Also called major depressive disorder or clinical depression, it affects how you feel, think and behave, and can lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems. You may have trouble with normal day-to-day activities and may sometimes feel as if life isn't worth living.

Treatment of depression can begin with psychotherapy. Further treatment may include psychopharmacological intervention.
